We won't have good public network access from the floor of the conference, but I suspect that won't stop this community from posting about their experience at the Global Conference on Educational Robotics. If you're planning to post updates during the conference ( or even after you get back home), you can share the url for your blog, Twitter feed, photo stream, etc. by replying to this thread.
I've sent in the URL of my blog to some KIPR staff. I'm keeping the blog private for now, but it will be made public a couple days after GCER concludes. I will post the URL here then.

On Twitter one can use Hashtags, at the conference I seemed to be the only one using #botball
In the future at GCER one might want to use #botball_gcer, as we can use the #botball one forever!
Using it from the floor would have required SMS access to twitter, as Cell phone coverage was adequate on Verizon or Sprint.

Thanks to Joe for reminding me to post it. Apologies for the sporadic nature of posts; I had very poor Internet connectivity and Norman High didn't have a dedicated blogger there. Next year will be better!

Jeremy love the run in with the cop doing Botball, I remember a cop came to our school at like 3 in the morning on me one day because I was up late building a Botball table and it sounded like someone was breaking in to a janitor.

Yeah, the cop encounter was quite exciting (although quite rattling to us). Unfortunately, the idiot cop may have long-standing effects, because it seems that we may no longer be allowed to meet for Botball without a teacher present. We coped with 1 week of having parents come supervise us, but will the parents be okay with helping us every night for 8 weeks next season? Time will tell....

The rule of having to have a teacher there is definitely a set back. This sometimes was an issue when I was on a high school robotics team. A way we came around this was at the beginning of the season putting together a schedule of all the practice and then having parents sign up for those times. This filled in a lot of the dates that the coaches could not take. Also, possibly even trying a family that has a extra room in their basement. When I helped coached a Lego League team a few years ago, a family of one of the students was willing to give up a room and even serve dinner to us. You might not be able to set up a whole field, but having a place to work is always better than no where to work.

We used this for updating parents and fans during GCER (which they really appreciated) but we'll be using it as a micro-blog (its intended purpose) as the school year begins.
