Hello,

Is there going to be a live webcast of the Botball and Beyond Botball games at GCER?

I have not seen any information regarding it.

Thanks,

Jake

Anyone know when the promised archive of the webcast will be posted? I will likely want to relive the excitement in a few weeks!

There is an archive of all the matches? That would be great, I couldn't watch a-lot of the matches because the signal on my satellite/wireless card for my computer kept losing signal when in the car driving.

The NCER 2005 webcast was archived, and I was assured by a KIPR official about a week ago that this webcast would be archived as well. I was not told when it would be posted.

Does KIPR have alot of videos archived, not just from GCER but from other regional events from this year and the past. I think it would be great if all the videos taken from teams and KIPR could be posted in an open source other than Youtube, something along: http://www.thebluealliance.net/
Which is all the matches from FIRST Robotics. It would be great to see Botball have the same thing, we could share to knew team members as well as publicity when doing showcases.

Just an idea.

The YAC (specifically Matt, Nick, and I) were working on this idea for a while, but we had to abandon it for this year because of technical and logistical issues. We're going to pursue the idea for next season, as we expect those issues to be dealt with by then. Don't expect it to be ready in time for the regionals though; we're hoping for a debut at GCER 2010. Details will be announced if/when we get something ready.

OK, sounds good, let me know if you need help with the logistics and stuff. I have helped organize and help with of a-lot of logistics with other competitions and regionals recording the matches.

Our ultimate goal is actually to have CBC cameras record the matches automatically; that should eliminate logistical and manpower problems. The problems we had were that (a) the CBCv1 doesn't have a very stable camera driver, and (b) we didn't have Internet available to upload stuff quickly. Both of those problems are supposedly fixed for next year, so we're hopeful that we'll have something ready. If everything goes well, we might be able to have matches uploaded and archived within a few minutes of the match finishing. (Although the speed of encoding and uploading video files will be a bottleneck.)

That would be cool, then all you just need to figure out is how to record the CBC camera view that's on the robots. And broadcast that feed wirelessly during the competition. :)

Yep, it should be pretty easy once we get stable camera drivers. One other thing I'd like to do is simultaneously show 4 "Bot Views" along with the overhead view. Bot Views are basically video logged from the actual robots on the game table. I think seeing what the bot sees can make it look a bit more exciting. Of course, teams would have to consent to running a bit of our code on their CBC; I think we would integrate it into cbcui to make it easier for teams to use it. The Bot Views would be voluntary (but strongly encouraged) for teams, since it probably would eat a few percent of the Chumby's CPU power (but not enough to bother most teams).
