How about instead of a scoring zone, you have a scoring line (having a black line being a scoring area). Cups would probably be the only thing that could score there, but it would almost force the teams to use the top hat sensors.

Adam, that is a very interesting idea, the robots would definitely have to make very precise movements to score there. Even more precise then scoring the windmills in the upright position this year.
