Some members of my team, namely Will Rolke, Nathan Sauder, Jeff Hsu, and I have been planning to create a quadcopter as a fun project to do after GCER and to put on college apps and the like. Since our Botball season is now over we've been getting the last bits of planning done and hope to start construction soon. I decided to start a blog and document some of our plans and things we hope to do, so if anyone is interested in checking it out, you can find it at http://quadcopter.wordpress.com/. I'm hoping it'll be an interesting read, and an inspiration to other roboticists to reach out beyond Botball and have fun doing it!
Were those pictures and videos of quadcopters you created and the checkers bot, or someone elses?

Checkerbot is us (See the Nease jacket?), the quadcopters no, those are just other designs we looked at. Sorry if that wasn't clear. We haven't even ordered parts yet, though my goal is to do that by tomorrow evening.

Just thought I'd bump this since it turned interesting. Construction has begun! It ends with a little video of us making a voltmeter move using one of the gyros, which is kinda primitive but also kinda cool. More work is planned for tomorrow as well!

We've got two videos up of us powering up our motors for the first time under software control! Soon we'll also be posting schematics and layouts for the final control board if anyone is interested.
