Does anyone know good ways to get funding for a botball team. I am a freshman at my school and all except one person on the team last year was a senior so we are restarting with about 6 people and need help raising funds. We also need to show the administrators at our school that the program is still feasible by hopefully funding it so that each person only has to pay at most $100.

Any help is appreciated

1) I suggest applying for a scholarship from Botball(check the Botball site for details)
2) Maybe you could try and set up a robotics camp(it worked really well with my team)
3) you could do various fundraisers throughout the year(selling candy bars, gift wrapping at various stores, etc.)
Hope this helps!

I have seen FIRST teams be successful in raising money through Kickstarter. I can imagine a Botball team being equally successful on their site.

@Abha Pandey how exactly would you advise setting up a robotics camp? I think the idea is interesting just have no idea how to do it or present it to our adult leader

@Beta Dont KickStarter fundraisers have to have a product at the end not just funding a school program?

@ruler501 I believe Abha's mentor published a paper on this at GCER 2012. You could probably get the paper from KIPR.

Well, it has to be something that can be finished. For example, you could say "support us for the 2013 season!" for the rewards, give them pictures of your robots and videos so they can follow your progress. Also let them know how you all did in the competition.

I'll see what our adult leader thinks about it. I think we can at least do the kixkstarter and the botball scholarship(well at least try for them). If he thinks its a good idea I'd gladly do a workshop like thing to raise money

I can ask my teacher how she set it up. We advertised about our robotics camp for weeks(that's how we ended up getting many people into doing the robotics camp.) Do apply for the Botball scholarship because it will help your team( it really helped our teams pay for the kits and parts).

When I was in middle school, our team fundraised by selling rootbeer floats after school as well as washing cars. I'm pretty sure one of the adult leaders on our team knew someone at a local car wash, and we were allowed to use their tools for a special deal. Ask around, and see if anyone knows someone who might be able to help you this way.
