Has anyone had luck connecting to wifi with userhook0 v3.03? We used wifi successfully in the past using the Norman/Nease mods and are using the same wifi adapter as in the past. I can find the available networks but when I try to connect, I always get the message, "Network Error Check Settings". There is a setting for Tx Rate which I'm not sure how it should be set so I tried a few different settings without luck.

Thanks!

Try removing other USB devices, e.g. flash drives or the camera, when connecting to wifi. Once you're connected to wifi, you can reconnect USB devices until reboot. Also, does it show your MAC address, or does it show up blank?

No other usb devices are connected to the CBC. It does show the mac address while loading available networks. I've tried using two different routers and networks, two different CBCs and two different usb wifi adapters (both the same model).

If you want to connect to a network (which we'll call Network A), try connecting to another network ("Network B"), and after it either succeeds or fails, click the Refresh button and let it think. Once it refreshes, click Refresh again. Do this 3-4 times. After that, then try to connect to Network A, and again refresh 3-4 times. That seems to help for me.

The KIPR wifi panel is very finicky; I liked the NHS Patchset wifi panel much better.

I tried your suggestion Jeremy, but unfortunately did not have success. Have you noticed KISS 3.0.2 crashing when you download via USB?

I honestly haven't used KISS-IDE 3.0.2 to download code. I vaguely remember that Whittier was having issues with it crashing, but I can't be sure.

You've exhausted my supply of wifi suggestions, unfortunately. If I had been in charge, the new firmwares would have just used the NHS Patchset wifi code plus KIPR's on-screen keyboard. I have no clue why they tried to redo something that was already 90% of what they wanted. In any event, their code is spectacularly buggy... caused us no end of issues at the Oklahoma regional.

(Post revised to eliminate an insensitive remark... apologies if I offended anyone.)

I am looking into it. It probably has something to do with the speed increases I tried being too much for the cbob to handle. It's definitely a problem on the CBC side, but KISS doesn't timeout (oddly). Unfortunately, I am in the middle of a lot of changes to KISS, so I can't guarantee a stable release any time soon. Sorry. I have only had one report of crashing from a team. I can't prioritize and fix things that I don't know about :/

Could you elaborate on the issues you were having at the Oklahoma regional, Jeremy?

Beta: Basically, the CBC's would disconnect from whatever network they were assigned to, quite often, for no obvious reason. (Happened probably 10-15 times at OK.) Manually switching networks, and then going back to the original network, in the menu, would fix it for the moment, until another disconnect happened. I think an easy workaround would be to automatically reconnect to known networks if they appear while disconnected. (NHS Patchset did this, if I recall correctly.) Also, wifi doesn't function at all for me if another USB device is also plugged in (camera or flash drive). Doing so results in blank MAC addresses, among other problems.

I would recommend emailing Matt Roman (|x|jroman|y|ail.com, where |x| = matt and |y| = @gm) with your specific issues. He knows far more than I do about the wifi panel. Could it be the wifi pollution at a competition?

Thanks.
