We fried a link by using an old CBC charger with it. Can someone confirm that it should not be used with that kind of charger?

Confirmed. The same thing happened to Norman Advanced. I believe the workshop instructors heavily emphasized this.

I can also confirm. I'm with Norman Advanced, and we did have a Link die. Worst of all it is not covered by warranty, so it cost us around $200 to get it fixed. What KIPR suggested we do is create a color system. So we put the teal duck tape around the Link charger and around the Link Charging port, and pick duck tape around our CBC chargers. We also keep the chargers in separate locations. The colors have helped us a ton.
