I am having trouble connecting to wifi with the kovan on my home network. It is using WEP and after trying a few times with the robot to connect(had the admin page of router open to see password on laptop right next to it) I could not get it too connect. Is there some problem with 64bit hex WEP connections or must I be doing something wrong?

I'm having similar problems. Same thing, I enter the credentials, hit connect, but it just returns me to the network settings view, and nothing seems to happen.

Could it be a firmware bug? My team hasn't updated firmware in a while for fear of messing up programs.

I don't think it's been fixed, since I tried updating to 1.9.5 with no avail. The bug is still there.

I'm scared to update because I use way too much precision to have something change. I may have to before competition though.

Hi,

We don't use a WEP network at KIPR, so I haven't done much testing with it. I'd recommend using WPA2 (it's more secure anyway). In any case, please submit a bug report and I'll look into it.

Thanks.

The main reason I need this to work is that we do a lot of our work at our school, which uses a WEP-secured WiFi network. Obviously, there's no getting around that particular restriction, so without WEP support, we can't ssh into the Link, which we'd love to be able to do.

If you have Windows 7, you can setup a virtual wifi card on your computer to host a WPA2 network while still being connected to your school's WEP network. Then you would just have the Link connect to the virtual card's WPA2 network. Search Google for "Virtual WiFi", or search for "Connectify" if you'd like a simple GUI for this feature.

Alternatively, you could get a second wifi card for your computer, or buy a cheap wifi router. These will work regardless of your OS.

I've actually been using my phone as a wifi tether. I disable data on it(to prevent using up limited 4g data) and have it create a WPA2 network that I use to connect.

I'm a big fan of the android-wifi-tether app. Also, I have unlimited data (with free tethering) for $5.99/month, so I don't bother turning off 4G. :-)

Who do you have a plan with that you get $5.99 a month with full 4g and tethering?
