I have been told that there are ways to enable using KISS with Windows 8. Does
anyone know the process or if the program will be change to allow the program to download on to the Link via connection cable?

Technically, KISS works with Windows 8 already. While the lack of using the cable can be a dilemma, there are easy ways around it.
1. Use a flashdrive. This is the simplest way around it, however it can get annoying after a while.
2. Use wifi or some local wireless router, coupled with a program such as WinSCP to wirelessly communicate and transfer your code over. This was fletcher's favorite method by far.
At our workshop, one of the volunteers was able to get the cable working. The issue was that a file located in the computer was not where it should be. He simply moved this to the proper location and PRESTO! it worked. I'll try and hunt down the guy to get the exact process.

@Matt: yeah, WiFi + SCP is my favorite way of doing it. Actually, the Link is running a recent enough OpenSSH daemon that it supports SFTP as well as SCP. So you can use FileZilla or something similar to browse the Link's filesystem. Obviously, deleting something that you're not supposed to delete is a Bad Thing and it is unlikely that KIPR will honor the warranty for such damage.

KISS IDE also supports Wi-Fi downloading directly to the Link. Simply connect the Link to your wireless network and it should pop up on KISS IDE's target selector. If it doesn't pop up, click "Manual" and type in the Link's IP Address. The IP Address can be found on the Networking menu after you've connected it to a network.
Windows 8 support will be addressed for Botball 2014.
Thanks.

@mattS-H I was that guy! That was almost a year ago now and I never documented it. I'll be back at the FL workshop in two weeks and I'll document it then just in case Braden has been working on something else super awesome and didn't get to tweak all the bugs out. Windows 8 comes in so many flavors now that treat devices completely different, oh and any 8.1 fun!
We had quite a few people needing help in the Florida Regional Workshop with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Almost all of them were solved by going into the Device Manager and updating the driver to the kiprlink.inf then we needed to manually select a port number. Even then a few had a problem with the KISS IDE which only saw the COM ports if run as administrator.
Even for the toughest cases, I found that the BeagleBoard driver makes it work. It is a signed driver which makes it a bit easier to begin with and has a installer as well; it can be found here: http://beagleboard.org/static/beaglebone/latest/README.htm If anyone continues to have problems I'll try to assist however I can.
I'm not sure what was at the end of that link from the spambot, but most likely it wasn't good. Spam removed.

My 8.1 Experience-- You probably need to login as an administrator in Windows 8.1 (This assumes you are)
The KIPR Link was updated to 2.0.3
Leave it unplugged.
I downloaded the 5.1.2 for Kipr Link.
In the Download folder, Right Click Run AS Administrator.
installed on Windows 8.1, it may ask to install C++ and other stuff, allow it.
When finished, turn on KIPR Link (wait 45 sec while it boots), plug cable into the USB port on the computer. (Wait 120 Sec for Windows to find it and add it to the Device Manger (under Ports) [You can watch this by going to [ Start Screen, Search (upper right corner search symbol), " Type Control Panel", Click it when it appears -> Control Panel, Select System from list, Then upper Left "Device Manager", expand Ports].

You can update to it by going through the windows store.
It's spam.

It will be listed with a COM Port - Mine was COM3
You can now send commands to it.
Enjoy.
