Tracking wheel movement in the iCreate robot

Is there a function to track the wheel movement on the iCreate robot. We are trying to track rotation of the robot in much finer detail than allowed by the get_create_normalized_angle() function. I was hoping for something similar to the get_motor_position_counter() function that can be used on motors for the little robot. I have looked through the KIPR Link manual and the libwallaby reference material at, but not found anything. Thank you.
